Wales
Carreg Cennen Castle
Located in Carmarthenshire at (SN 668191)
Steps lead down from the inner ward to a dark cave and passage. At the end of the cave is a reservoir. Human remains, from prehistory time, were found here.
Pembroke Castle
Located in Pembrokeshire at (SM 982016)
A staired underground passage leads into the rock to a cave. It is called the Wogan.
England
Ashby De La Zouch Castle
Located in Leicestershire at (SK 363167)
An underground passage runs from the basement of the great tower to the kitchen block basement. This is a well lighted passageway.
Bungay Castle
Located in Suffolk at (TM 336896)
An uncompleted mining gallery hides under the south-west corner of the great tower.
Dover Castle
Located in Kent at (TR 326416)
A series of underground passages were dug to connect the castle with the earthwork beyond the north curtain. The passageway open to explore is dark and slippery in some areas, so care must be taken.
Hastings Castle
Located in Sussex at (TQ 822095)
Inside the mount are so-called dungeons. There are two main underground chambers reached by two seperate flights of stairs. No one is sure why the chambers exist, and their construction creates whisper chambers.
Nottingham Castle
Located in Nottinghamshire at (SK 569394)
A tunnel leads from outside the castle, through rock, into the fortress. It is called Mortimer's Hole.
Scotland
St Andrews Castle
Located in Fife at (NO 513169)
You can visit a mine and where the countermine intersects under the castle. There is some lighting, but be careful.
